Terms of Use

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use ChatRIP. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. The Service

ChatRIP provides AI-powered historical persona chats grounded in public-domain writings, citation retrieval, source previews, and related educational features. Persona responses are generated by AI systems and are not the actual words, opinions, or consent of the historical figures represented unless a response quotes or cites a source passage.

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also limit access to personas, models, sources, or features when needed for safety, reliability, legal compliance, or product maintenance.

3. Arda Gateway, Accounts, and Credits

ChatRIP uses Arda Gateway for sign-in, AI model access, billing portal access, and credit-based inference. When you connect an Arda account or top up a Gateway balance, those account and payment flows are provided by ArdaBot and its service providers.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Credits, prices, model availability, and usage limits may change over time. Credit balances are non-refundable except where required by law or where a separate written policy says otherwise.

4. User Content

You may submit prompts, questions, feedback, and other content to the Service. You retain any rights you have in that content, but you grant ArdaBot a limited license to process, transmit, store, display, and use it as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve ChatRIP.

Do not submit passwords, financial account numbers, health records, confidential business information, or other highly sensitive information unless you understand and accept that AI services and infrastructure providers may process the information to provide the Service.

5. AI Output and Citations

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, anachronistic, or inappropriate. Citations and source excerpts are provided to help you inspect the materials used by the system, but they do not guarantee that every statement in an answer is correct.

ChatRIP is not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, financial, academic, or historical advice. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it, publishing it, or using it in any consequential setting.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse ChatRIP or use it in a way that harms other people, the Service, or third-party systems.

• Do not violate law, regulation, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or publicity rights.
• Do not generate, request, store, or distribute illegal, abusive, exploitative, deceptive, or hateful content.
• Do not attempt to bypass authentication, billing, rate limits, model restrictions, or safety controls.
• Do not probe, scan, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Do not use ChatRIP to impersonate living people or to misrepresent AI output as human-authored source material.
• Do not share credentials, API keys, or access tokens with unauthorized third parties.

7. Intellectual Property

ChatRIP, including its software, design, branding, selection of features, and documentation, is owned by ArdaBot or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you rights to use ArdaBot or ChatRIP names, logos, or branding except as necessary to identify the Service.

Many source texts used by ChatRIP are public-domain works or public-domain translations. Public-domain status can vary by jurisdiction, edition, translation, and source. You are responsible for confirming rights before republishing or commercially using source materials or AI output.

Subject to these Terms, ArdaBot does not claim ownership of AI output generated for you by ChatRIP. However, output may not be unique and similar output may be generated for other users.

8. Historical Personas and Publicity

ChatRIP presents AI simulations of deceased public or historical figures for educational, research, and entertainment purposes. The Service is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or approved by the estates, families, publishers, institutions, or successors associated with those figures unless we expressly state otherwise.

You agree not to use persona output in a way that falsely suggests endorsement, creates confusion about authorship, or violates applicable rights of publicity, privacy, trademark, or consumer protection law.

9. Third-Party Providers

The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, database services, analytics, payments, authentication, AI model routing, and model inference. Prompts, retrieved source excerpts, model outputs, usage metadata, and technical logs may be transmitted to those providers as needed to operate ChatRIP.

ArdaBot does not control upstream AI models or every third-party system. Third-party providers may change, limit, or discontinue their services, which may affect ChatRIP availability, cost, latency, or output quality.

10. Privacy

Your use of ChatRIP is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information. If these Terms and the Privacy Policy conflict, these Terms govern your use of the Service and the Privacy Policy governs our handling of personal information.

11. Disclaimers

ChatRIP is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant that AI output or cited sources will be complete, accurate, lawful for your intended use, or suitable for any particular purpose.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ArdaBot and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or use arising from or related to the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ArdaBot's total liability for all claims related to ChatRIP will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to ArdaBot for ChatRIP or Arda Gateway usage in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred dollars ($100).

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ArdaBot and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of ChatRIP, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

14. Termination

You may stop using ChatRIP at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms, created risk for the Service or other users, or used the Service in a way that may expose ArdaBot or others to liability.

After termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will survive, including provisions about intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law, and disputes.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or ChatRIP will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms with a new effective date. Your continued use of ChatRIP after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
